Blinded By The Light (Wormwood Is Also A Star)

manfred mann said it’s fun
to look into the eyes of the sun
disregarding wise advice

not all that glitters is gold
half the story has never been told –
these words of marley suffice

to reveal the difference
between clarity and indifference
and the lure of luciferous lies

beware which sun you admire
lest you’re consumed by wormwood’s fire
and the star inside you dies

Shook While Blogging (Upon Further Reflection)

reading posts
reflection
pondering the stuff of life
i am startled by a bang
a bird hitting the window
mistaking
reflection
for the real sky

i quickly put my glasses back on
to see it fly away
for which i am
grateful
that it did not die
it and i
both shaken

knowing that i
too often
am content
to window shop
when i could be
in flight

(upon further
reflection)

NEWSFLASH

image

just because you
say something
over and over
and over and
over and over
and over again
doesn’t make it
the truth

Deception

image

fascinating how at every confrontation you give a siren song, turn the tables so that you are the victim, and did nothing wrong.

i am so tired of having to play detective searching through your stuff
so there is enough
proof staring you in the face because otherwise
you keep telling your lies.

what you don’t get is you’re hurting yourself.
relationships are built on trust.
we are just
the tip of the iceberg.
there will be many more in the years ahead
and deception is the quickest way to make a friendship
dead.
