Monday Monday Song 72 – Black Cross Black Thread

On March 24, 1980, Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador was assassinated while giving mass. This song, from the 1990 album La Voz, commemorates his life as an advocate for the poor and for justice. The women of the Archbishop’s cathedral in San Salvador make and sell these black crosses on black threads in honor of Monsignor Romero.
