Posted in Leaves on the Poet Tree (Poems)

lying here on the edge of the tumble into sleep
into my darkened room the sounds of the night do creep
a siren’s wail i pray the lord another soul to keep
in places where the whirlwind is being reaped
where children cower fathers fear and mothers weep
paying a cost way too high and a price that is far too steep
while i hover on the precipice of that faithful leap
dreaming of a compassionate world and my waking actions as i fall into the deep
