The Songs of Present Day

When the living sing songs of death and are never satisfied, I cling to life-giving songs by singers who have died.

One by one, it seems death is taking them from me,
leaving behind their legacy of lyrical advocacy,

While present day songsmiths, so consumed with selfish glee,
regurgitate words of lust and mediocrity.
