The rain begins, tentative drops splashing on my windshield.
I leave the windows cracked and turn up Empire of the Sun, a private concert for the pedestrians passing by, travelers newly risen from the dry underground into a world now wet.
“We are the people who rule the world.” I have my doubts.
Nearing home, the Police come on and I think perhaps the King of Pain is the one in charge.
Then I remember the song in between, another shout at the world anthem by King’s X. “Hate don’t fall on me. Love fall on me.”
In the end, that is all that matters. Like Lenny Kravitz says, “We’ve got to let love rule.”
Join me on the refrain.
“Let. .. love… rule….”
